The sculptures of Ralf Kleine irritate with a figurative language of form that seems borrowed from another time. His figures, heads, or animal sculptures are beautiful, strangely alien creatures from an unknown era that, like archaeological finds, have suddenly appeared in the here and now. According to legend, Minotaur was a wild creature that raged unruly on the island of Crete, eating people and destroying houses until he was locked in a labyrinth. But this Minotaurus here seems unfinished, fragile, vulnerable - as if he no longer has any strength to rage.
